1. “‘Women over size 16 still have sex’ says plus-size beauty…”

The title of this article may be a bit over the top, to say the least, but it has a very valid point. Sometimes plus size women are perceived as non-sexual, on-beautiful people — and they are the exact opposite! Going beyond the tabloid, at core it is saying something important. The article cites quotes from plus size model, Tess Holliday (Munster).

“I think people need to be taught that when you get

past a size sixteen you still have sex and you have sex a lot and that

you have healthy relationships. That you live your life, have fun.”

“People assume that fat people live miserable lives,

that being my size is a death sentence.”

2. “Lane Bryant CEO Linda Heasley: ‘I wouldn’t want to call myself plus size'”

Linda Heasley, who has been Lane Bryant’s CEO since 2013, is working to redefine the plus size world (or as they call it — “her size”). She has been working to change the view on sizing and the fashion offerings at Lane Bryant.

“I love going on bloggers’ sites,” she said. “They teach me

every day how we should be thinking about this.

There is definitely awareness of the marketplace and

challenging preconceived notions. We use ‘her size’ here internally

We are trying to show respect, and that size doesn’t matter.”

3. “Why Victoria’s Secret Needs to Fix Its Plus-Size Problem the Right Way”

It seems like more and more apparel companies are coming “under fire” for their lack of good, fashionable plus size clothing. Victoria’s Secret is the most current company that women are rallying against. Victoria’s Secret has a huge advertising campaign using the term “Perfect Body,” that clearly only includes those in the “straight” size range. There is a push for Victoria’s Secret to add a larger size range to include more women.

4. “Plus-size model Tess Holliday busts out of stereotype”

Tess Holliday has been making all kinds of waves in the past couple of weeks! Most importantly, she was recently signed to MiLK Model Management. This makes her the largest sized (size 22) and shortest (5’5″) women to have ever been signed to a major modeling agency. Bravo to Tess for working on making changes in the world for all women!

It’s been the talk of the town that not one, but TWO plus size women were to appear in this year’s Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue. Robyn Lawley (who is more of a “regular” sized women than “plus” at a size 12) and Ashley Graham. 1.  “The plus-size problem with the Target-Lilly Pulitzer collaboration

Many of you have heard of the drama going on with Target in regards to their plus size offerings (or lack there of) and their faux-pas in the past (the ‘manatee grey’ debacle to name one). In response, Target tried to do something good — they are offering their newest designer collaboration (Lilly Pulitzer) in plus size, but they still struck a nerve by only offering these sizes online. This has caused a new uproar, and some feel that Target keeps putting their foot in it when it comes to the Plus Size community, while others feel this is an opportunity to let Target gauge how successful this venture is and if it will be worth it for them to put more plus size in store.

2.  “Why are there no plus-size male models?

Plus size news and fashion are booming right now. Things are changing for women like crazy — but what about our male counter parts? Have you ever thought about the fact that you never see a plus size male model? Why is there a double standard of sorts?
