Valentine’s Day Inspired

February 4, 2013

The thing about Valentine’s Day, is that it always set you up for failure. There is a social etiquette that every man (and woman) must live up to year after year.  As Jane Austen says about women and love:

“A lady’s imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment.”

Even in elementary school, when you had to give everyone a Valentine’s Day card (to be fair), you always had the tension of worrying what good stuff you’d get or if you would give a good enough card and candy.

I think it is wonderful to have someone in your life that brings romance and passion. To have someone that rises (at least in part) to a ladies imaginings and desires. I’m sure  there are plenty of catches like that out there, and any girl that has one should count her blessings.

I’m in no way into corny or cliché, but I wouldn’t mind having a special someone surprise me  one of these days.

Who knows–maybe one day it will happen! Really, who doesn’t want to be special?! No one does.  I wish that Valentine’s Day was more about the love that it represents and not about our expectations and let downs. My wish is for everyone to enjoy that one special day, no strings attached, no regrets–just happiness.

“Love is anterior to life,
posterior to death,
initial of creation,
and the exponent of breath.”
