Life and Death

January 29, 2013

Today I got my hair ‘did.’ I thought it was smart to take advantage of my nicely blown straight hair, and take some pictures! (How come my hair never looks like this when I do it?! No fair!)

My hair stylist has been doing my hair since junior high — I’m not even going to tell you how many years that is! Way too depressing to count!  I first met her because I was thinking of shaving my head and with long bangs things. (Yes, I know. I was like 13, you know  how that is!) My mom was all worried about me doing it myself or going to a Super Cuts, so she booked me an appointment with her. She was able to stop me from doing the whole shaved head thing with a toned down styled version. She ended up giving me a short spiky ‘do with the long bang. It was actually pretty darn cute!  Phew! Think how the rest of junior high would have gone if I’d actually gone through with shaving my head!

To make a long story short (how could I NOT share the head shaving story?!)–said stylist recently moved to a new hair salon in a part of town that I usually don’t venture into. She new I was planning on taking pictures after she was done, so she mentioned different spots that I might want to check out for a backdrop. This old grave yard is one of those.  I guess it is kind of morbid to take photos in a grave yard, but it really is hard to resist. The beauty of the aging and death mixed with the bright newness of all the varying signs of budding life…
