Fashion Trends Adapted for Plus Size

July 11, 2012

More often than not, I run across a plus size girl wearing a popular trend that looks (to put it bluntly) HORRID on them. I believe that there is a way to wear any trend at any size, but you have to adapt it to flatter your body type. Granted there are some trends that look bad on anyone at any size unless your 10 feet tall and a size 00.

Here are 2 different fashion trends going on right now, and how to adapt them to be flatter on plus size.

The Crop Top

This is a cute trend that can completely be worn by a plus size girl. I have 2 solutions to this trend.

1. Hint of Skin. You don’t need to have your belly hanging out to wear a crop top. Try pairing it with a high waisted pant or skirt. Leave a little hint of your stomach showing. This is a classy way to wear this trend.

2. Long & Lean Layer.  Don’t feel comfortable showing ANY skin? Try layering a tighter fitting top underneath the crop top. This lets you wear the trend, but not have any undesirables hanging out.
Floral Pants

The floral printed pant trend is a fun, but the large print on a bottom heavy person can sometimes be unflattering.  Try wearing a floral print as an accent piece like a blazer or scarf.
