I’m secretly shooting for a new fragrance ad called “Dark Romance.” A dark shadow chases me as I look for my love lost through tragic circumstances….
You know the type, like poor Anne Elliot in Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Through miscommunication and misjudged circumstances she was torn from her love. An old spinster never to find one like that which got away.
“She had been forced into prudence in her youth, she learned romance as she grew older: the natural sequence of an unnatural beginning.”
“The one claim I shall make for my own sex is that we love longest, when all hope is gone.”
But, alas, Jane Austen’s Anne Elliot did (eventually) get reunited with her love and they lived happily ever after–even if a little late in life by the 1800’s standards!
Lucky for me I am not living in a fragrance ad or during Jane Austen’s time. I can live and love and pursue in any form or time schedule that I please. Thank goodness for me! Otherwise, I would be a lost cause!
